Global Organic Textile Standaard (GOTS)
is a globally recognised organisation that inspects and certifies organic cotton. To receive the GOTS seal of approval, articles must meet very strict requirements. All steps within the production process are checked for certification.
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an international label that sets requirements for both the production of the fibres and the further processing into the finished product. The GOTS label guarantees that cotton is produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner and comes from organic farming.
No synthetic plant protection products are used in cultivation, no genetically modified organisms and no artificial fertilisers. GOTS certification requires compliance with social criteria such as working conditions, a ban on child labour and a safe hygienic working environment. In addition, GOTS also deals with the control of dyeing and washing during production, as many harmful substances are still used in regular cotton.
